Entry to second year universityOn successful completion of your MIBT Diploma and meeting University academic progression criteria, you are eligible for entry into second year of the relevant Deakin University Bachelor degree. As MIBT Diplomas are linked with courses at Deakin University, it is this University to which most of our students transfer. MIBT Diplomas are also recognised by universities throughout Australia for entry. Study on a university campusMIBT is located on Deakin University’s Melbourne Campus at Burwood and Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds. MIBT students have access to the full range of services and facilities available on each campus including: the library; bookshop; food and campus shops; computer laboratories; and sporting and recreation facilities. Quality education is assuredAs part of the accreditation process, MIBT courses are regularly reviewed and revised, so you are guaranteed current and relevant courses. All courses are registered on the Australian Government Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) and have been accredited by the appropriate education authorities. MIBT is a member of the Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET), which is the national body for private vocational and higher education providers in Australia. Fast track to your successSome pathway programs add an extra year to your tertiary studies. This is not so with MIBT! For example when you study a MIBT Diploma you study exactly the same units as the first year of a Deakin University Bachelor degree so on completion, you enter second year of the relevant Bachelor degree. Fast track the Diploma by completing in eight months and you may complete your entire Bachelor degree at Deakin in less than three years. Convenient start datesMIBT offers three semesters within one calendar year. Semesters commence in March, June and October. With three intakes per year, you can choose to enter a course when it is convenient for you. Additional study supportIf additional English language and academic support is required whilst undertaking a MIBT course, you can join the “Academic Support” class. This free class assists you in study and writing skills, assignment preparation and examination techniques. Small lecture and tutorial groupsThe benefits of studying at MIBT are the small class sizes. Lectures contain an average of 45 students and are complemented by small group tutorial and workshops, so you are assured of a superior level of academic contact and support. Additional teaching hoursIn keeping with its supportive approach MIBT provides more teaching hours per unit. Instead of the traditional three hours of teaching, MIBT conducts its classes in four hour sessions, Monday to Friday from 8.30am–12.30pm and 1.30pm–5.30pm. This extra academic contact allows you to fully develop your knowledge and understanding of each unit. Part-time studiesIf you are an Australian student you have the opportunity to complete your studies part-time. As classes are scheduled on a “block” basis, it provides you with the opportunity to attend half-day sessions rather than several small periods throughout the week. This provides greater opportunity for students with employment and other commitments to manage their time effectively. Due to visa requirements the part-time option is not available to International students. Ideal location for living and learningMIBT is located in the city of Melbourne, the capital of Victoria. Melbourne is a cosmopolitan city offering a wide variety of entertainment, shopping, restaurants and sightseeing. Recognised internationally as one of the world’s most liveable city because of its clean and safe environment, cost of living and quality of housing and education, Melbourne is the place to study. |
