If additional English language and academic support is required whilst undertaking a MIBT course, you can join the Academic Support class. This free class assists you in study and writing skills, assignment preparation and examination techniques.

    Student Advisers

MIBT Student Advisers are committed to providing you with support and advise to help you reach your full potential while studying at MIBT. Appointments can be made to discuss study and personal issues, academic assistance, accommodation difficulties, family matters, attendance issues and home-sickness. Students are encouraged to make an appointment at MIBT Reception.

    Disability Support

MIBT is committed to providing equal opportunities for students with disabilities and promotes strategies to develop a flexible teaching and learning environment which is able to meet the needs of a diverse range of students.

MIBT encourages students to provide information (including medical or other professional advice) regarding the nature of their disability and special needs during the application and enrolment process. It is important that students provide MIBT with these details as early as possible so that we can assess students’ support needs and ensure that they are able to succeed in their chosen program of study.

MIBT is committed to providing a teaching and learning environment which promotes dignity, acknowledges students’ rights to privacy and confidentiality, and promotes an awareness of students’ needs and rights. Therefore, MIBT is able to make reasonable accommodations to support students with disabilities throughout their studies and ensure that they have equal access to the teaching and learning environment.

    Mentoring Program

MIBT's Student Mentoring Program enables continuing MIBT students to help new students adjust and settle into university level study and life in Australia.

During the Orientation and Enrolment program, students will be placed with an enthusiastic, friendly and approachable Student Mentor who will assist them during the week. Student Mentors will maintain regular contact with the students in their group to provide vital information and assist with questions, academic concerns or personal issues at various times throughout the first weeks at MIBT.

    Student Activities

Sports equipment for cricket, basketball, tennis, table tennis and badminton are available at MIBT Reception. While borrowing equipment, students are required to leave their Student ID card with MIBT Reception.

MIBT organises excursions and group lunches throughout the semesters.

    Student Representation

The MIBT Student Representative Council (MSRC) seeks to provide students with a voice. Opening a conduit for communication between staff and the student body provides an avenue where current student issues can be discussed, with valid feedback offered, in order to improve the quality of student life at MIBT.

The MSRC also aims to foster a sense of community at MIBT. The MSRC is made up of a cross section of committed students and staff who represent the MIBT student body. The student members of the MSRC are appointed to represent the interests and needs of the entire MIBT student body for a period of one semester. The MSRC will normally meet four times throughout the semester to discuss issues affecting students.

    Under 18 Students

MIBT must follow specific policies and procedures for accommodating, supporting and monitoring international students who are under 18 years of age whilst they are studying in Australia. These policies and procedures are designed to guarantee that MIBT complies with the National Code and the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Office (DIAC) requirements for ensuring that international students are adequately cared for during their studies. Students who are considering changing their accommodation and welfare arrangements must discuss the proposed change with the Manager Student Services at MIBT.
