The Diploma of Science is offered in association with Deakin University as an alternative pathway to undergraduate studies. The Diploma consists of Deakin's first year degree units and is a flexible and broad course, giving you comprehensive and transferable skills to face future challenges of established and emerging science and technology industries. This course leads into Deakin University's Bachelor of Biomedical Science, Bachelor of Forensic Science and Bachelor of Science. Graduates have the opportunity to work in a wide range of cutting-edge, rapidly growing fields and have the potential to be involved with scientific developments that hold the key to the future. The Diploma of Science is taught at Deakin University's Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds.
The duration of the Diploma of Science is 3 trimesters (12 months). There is the option to fast track the course and complete it in two trimesters (8 months). Courses commence in March, June and October.
Teaching Methods and Assessment Instruction for all units is classroom based. Four hours of class contact per week are allocated to each unit. Some units also require additional time for lab sessions. Assessment for all units is ongoing and continuous, consisting of tests, assignments and case study analysis. Most units have a final three hour examination.
