The Diploma of Engineering is offered in association with Deakin University as an alternative pathway to undergraduate studies. The Diploma consists of Deakin's first year degree units. The Diploma of Engineering is a broad course, equipping students with the skills and knowledge required for a full spectrum of opportunities in the engineering field. You will undertake common units in your Diploma study and then choose to specialise in Civil, Electronics, Mechatronics and Robotics, or Mechanical Engineering when you enter second year at Deakin University. To be awared the Diploma of Engineering you must complete and pass eight of the units listed in the table below.
The duration of the Diploma of Engineering is 3 trimesters (12 months). There is the option to fast track the course and complete it in two trimesters (8 months). Courses commence in March, June and October.
Teaching Methods and Assessment Instruction for all units is classroom based. Four hours of class contact per week are allocated to each unit. Assessment for all units is ongoing and continuous, consisting of tests, assignments and case study analysis. Most units have a final three hour examination.
