BIO001 Introduction To Biology
This unit is designed to develop a broad scientific knowledge of the living world. It will focus on both understanding and the investigation of general biological concepts associated with the structure, function, reproduction, evolution, distribution and interactions of living organisms, in addition to basic techniques used in genetic engineering and biotechnology.
Assessment: 60% semester tests and assignments, 40% final examination

BUS100 Accounting 1
This unit introduces students to the basic procedures and principles of accounting. Topics covered include accounting concepts, journals, ledger accounts, trial balance and cash control.
Assessment: 30% semester tests; 5% participation, 65% final examination

BUS103 Economics
This unit introduces students to key economic issues. Students will gain an understanding of the economic framework and cover the topics of Australian market reforms, demand and supply, wages and wage fixation.
Assessment: 40% semester test and assignment, 60% final examination

BUS104 Mathematics
This unit introduces students to basic mathematical concepts. Topics covered in this unit include algebra, equations, annuities, fractions, ratios, profit efficiency and liquidity rations.
Assessment: 45% semester tests, 55% final examination

BUS105 Statistics
This unit introduces students to basic statistical techniques. Students will learn the interpretation and analysis of numerical data and cover other areas such as univariate and bivariate data analysis, probability techniques, law of chance and graphical representation of data.
Assessment: 50% semester test, 50% final examination

BUS107 Introduction To Computing
This unit introduces students to the fundamental computer concepts. Students learn a wide variety of software packages, eg, Word, Excel, Access as well as computer theory. Students also gain the necessary skills for effective use of the WWW and Internet.
Assessment: 65% semester tests and assignments, 35% final examination

BUS108 Management
This unit provides students with a basic understanding of management. The role of a manager in organisations will be studied and students will also be introduced to the concept of organisational behaviour.
Assessment: 50% semester test, case study and workbook exercises, 50% final examination

BUS109 Marketing
This unit introduces students to the basic principles of marketing. Students will learn how to identify target markets and develop market strategies. Market segmentation and the interrelationship of marketing and selling will also be studied.
Assessment: 70% semester test and assignments, 30% final examination

CHE001 Chemistry
This course introduces students to the study of matter and its interactions thereby providing a link with other branches of natural science. The course is designed to assist students to appreciate the impact of chemical knowledge and technology on society.
Assessment: TBA

COM100 Information Design
This unit provides an overview of the theory and application of designing information for a range of purposes and in a range of media, particularly paper-based and electronic media. Students will use a wide variety of software to create and view information designed for different media.
Assessment: 100% tutorial exercises and semester assignments

COM101 Programming
This unit provides a basic introduction to Visual Basic.NET Programming.
Assessment: 50% semester assignments, 50% final examination

COM102 Introduction To Systems Analysis
This module provides an introduction to the basic theory and practical application of the concepts and modelling techniques used in the analysis phase of developing business software. The underlying framework utilised in this module is the Systems Development Life Cycle.
Assessment: 55% semester test and assignments, 45% final test (in class)

COM104 Mass Communication I
This unit introduces students to the media in Australia. Topics covered include how the media works, how the media produce meaning, how the media is organised and how the media goes about constructing reality.
Assessment: 70% semester assignment, 30% final examination

COM105 Mass Communication II
This unit builds on the work covered in COM104. Topics include the form of media constructions with particular reference to popular entertainment, the use of time and space in visual media and stereotyping.
Assessment: 60% semester assignment, 40% final examination

COM201 Communication Skills II
This unit will assist students in their ability to successfully interact, participate and communicate effectively in an academic environment.
Assessment: 25% Research essay; 25% mid-semester test; 50% final examination

COM202 Communication Skills III
This unit will assist students in developing knowledge and communication skills that will allow them to participate effectively in a range of personal and professional contexts. Students will learn interactive skills including the communication process, non-verbal communication and listening, business etiquette and business writing skills, teamwork and meetings.
Assessment: 25% Folio; 25% mid-semester test; 50% final examination

HBI001 Introduction To Human Biology
This unit investigates the physiology and anatomy of the human body. This knowledge and understanding of the main body systems with the associated biological concepts will promote a scientific awareness and appreciation of the human body in a personal, social and medical context
Assessment: TBA

MTH001 Advanced Mathematics I
This is a Mathematics unit specifically for students who wish to study mathematics and related courses at a tertiary level. Successful completion of this module indicates that students have obtained a good understanding of calculus so that further studies in calculus and related topics can be undertaken.
Assessment: 40% mid semester test; 60% final examination

MTH002 Advanced Mathematics II
This is a Mathematics unit specifically for students who wish to study Engineering, Physical Sciences, Mathematics or related courses at a tertiary level. Successful completion of this unit indicates that students have obtained a good understanding of integral calculus so that further studies in calculus and related topics can be undertaken

PHY001 Physics
This unit is designed to expose students to the basic principles of Physics, and their applications, within a wide variety of contexts. Physics principles and methods applicable to Heat, Motion, Electricity, Wave motion and Optics are covered in this unit.
Assessment: 50% semester tests and assignments, 50% final examination
