MIBT students who require accommodation have the opportunity of staying at an MIBT Residential Campus, on-campus accommodation, homestay, temporary, hostel or apartment style accommodation or private house/flat rental.
A Student Adviser is available to assist students in finding accommodation. Assistance with accommodation can only be given once a student has accepted their place at MIBT.

MIBT endorses two residential villages – International House Uganda Street Village and International House Cherry Tree Lane Village providing safe, secure townhouse and apartment style living. Both are situated in a quiet residential location close to Deakin University’s Melbourne Campus at Burwood.

Accommodation at the Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds
On-campus accommodation
Deakin College and Barton College
Deakin Residences provide student accommodation on the Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds consisting of Deakin College and Barton College. Geelong Student Residences offer individual, furnished bedroom accommodation within easy walking distance of all Waurn Ponds campus facilities in a secure, well-appointed residential college facility.
The University dining room at Geelong provides an evening meal Monday to Thursday (with meal options) and provides for specialised dietary requirements, including halal and vegetarian meals. The fee for on-campus residential accommodation (includes water, gas, electricity, access to the university network and a range of residential support programs) and a catering package consisting of 5 meals per week.
The cost of residences is approximately A$2,900 per semester (Nov – Feb).

Off-campus accommodation
Barton College - Thornhill Road House
Deakin University Residences operate a self-catered shared house, accommodating six more independent students, in Thornhill Road as part of Barton College (approximately 1 kilometre from campus). This accommodation offers individual, furnished bedroom accommodation in a well-appointed residential house. Cost of this alternate style of accommodation is: approx. $A2,100 per semester (Nov - Feb), and includes water, gas, electricity, access to the university network and a range of residential support programs.

Barkley Hall
Barkley Hall is located in the property adjacent to the northern boundary of the Waurn Ponds campus and offers furnished single rooms in a supervised hall of residence. It is operated by Reformed Theological College (RTC) and offers separate male and female living quarters and a range of room options, including ensuite facilities, all with internet access. The monthly cost of residence, including a 2-course evening meal Monday to Friday, ranges from $550 for a standard room through to $630 for an ensuite bedroom.

Homestay
Homestay provides international students with the opportunity to live with an Australian family and is popular with students arriving in Melbourne for the first time. Homestay may be families, couples or single people. All are selected to provide good quality facilities and meals if required.
Facilities:
- Bedroom with wardrobe, desk and bed
- Negotiated use of kitchen facilities
- Shared use of bathroom, laundry
- Negotiated use of telecommunications

Temporary Accommodation
Temporary accommodation is an option for students who are not sure what type of accommodation they require, or if their long term accommodation is not ready in time. This type of accommodation is generally a budget hotel or hostel nearby MIBT.
Facilities:
- Facilities vary at each hostel, however most provide a furnished bedroom and have access to a common kitchen, living room and laundry facilities. Some hostels also provide meals.

Hostel/Apartment Style
A range of hostels and apartment style accommodation are available for students to choose from. These are located within close proximity to MIBT or in the Melbourne CBD for students who like city living. Most hostels/apartments offer single or shared fully furnished rooms.
Facilities:
- Facilities vary at each type of hostel/apartment but most provide shared or private bathrooms, computer and internet access, laundries, televisions, kitchen facilities, common room and easy access to public transport. Meals are provided at some hostels/apartments.
Rentals
Students may choose to rent an apartment or a house - either on their own or with friends. The majority of rental properties in Melbourne are not furnished and the cost of the rental does not include the payment of expenses (bills) such as gas and electricity. Unlike temporary accommodation and homestay, rental properties cannot be arranged by MIBT either before or after students arrive. However, MIBT does offer students assistance and advice when they arrive.

Students Under 18 Years
Accommodation for International Students Under 18 Years of Age
An International student who is under 18 years of age is a "minor" and must meet immigration requirements for accommodation, support and general welfare arrangements before a student visa will be granted.
International students under 18 years of age must either:
- reside in Australia with a parent, or a person who has custody of them, or a relative aged at least 21 nominated by either the parent or the person having custody of them, or
- provide evidence that they will be going into care arrangements - for their accommodation, support and general welfare - i.e. homestay approved by MIBT or the MIBT Residential Campus.
Only a parent of the student or a person who has custody of the student is allowed to nominate a carer for the applicant.
