

To enter MIBT courses students must meet both the academic and English language requirements.
Entry to the Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation Program requires the successful completion of Year 11 or equivalent.

Entry to the Postgraduate Qualifying Program (Business and Law) requires an IELTS of 6 with no individual band score below 6.

If you do not meet the English language requirements you may be eligible for a Mixed Program or may choose to enrol in an intensive English language course at Deakin University English Language Institute (DUELI) to improve your English language proficiency.
International students whose level of English language proficiency is IELTS 5.0 - with no band score below 4.5 (or equivalent) rather than the required IELTS 5.5, and who satisfy the minimum academic requirements, may be offered entry to the Mixed Program.
The Mixed Program consists of combined English and academic studies . The Mixed Program adds an extra trimester to your Certificate or Diploma course which can be completed in three trimesters (12 months).
Note: The Mixed Program is not available for Certificate and Diploma courses in Commerce, Computing, Engineering and Science programs at the Geelong Campuses or Media and Communication at the Melbourne Campus at Burwood. It is also not available for PQP programs.
If students need additional English study they may enrol in the Deakin University English Language Institute (DUELI) to improve their English language proficiency. DUELI offers a wide range of English language courses, from beginners to advanced levels.
DUELI is located on Deakin University's Melbourne Campus at Burwood and offers a wide range of programs for students. DUELI also offers a special EAP 1 and EAP 2 pathway program on the Deakin University's Geelong Waterfront Campus.
MIBT can arrange full-time English tuition at DUELI if students need to improve their English level prior to beginning their academic study at MIBT. The table below indicates the weeks, dates and cost of English at DUELI held before each MIBT semester.
